We are saddened by the passing of a great friend to Pregnancy Services, Bruce Hug, husband to our Program Director, Diana Hug. For years, Bruce has been a solid, dedicated cheerleader and donor for the ministry of Pregnancy Services and displayed a huge heart for helping families and babies succeed in getting the best start possible. Bruce loved the Lord, was a dedicated servant and an avid volunteer.
Over two years ago, the PSGC house at 322 E. Downie was purchased and in need of someone to lead the remodeling and fix up of the house. Bruce, just then recently retired, not only said he would do it on a volunteer basis, but said, “I would consider it an honor”! He, along with his family members mostly, and a few other volunteers, completed the work on time and as promised, this, even as Bruce’s health was failing and some days when he barely had strength enough to get through the day. Truly he was an exceptional steward and servant! Like the apostle Paul, as the time for his departure drew near, Bruce was being poured out as a drink offering. Paul writes in 2 Timothy 4, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day….” Bruce embodied the kind of spirit about which the apostle writes, and we are confident Bruce has gained his reward.
We miss Bruce, his laughter, his love of the Lord, his listening ear, his generous and gracious spirit. A memorial to Bruce will take place this Friday, July 12th. See below for details. Bruce and family have requested that memorial gifts be given to Pregnancy Services of Gratiot County.
